THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE SECOND GRADE OF MTs HIDAYATUL INSAN PALANGKA RAYA STUDENTS’ MASTERY OF INDONESIAN PASSIVE VOICE AND THEIR ENGLISH PASSIVE VOICE VERSION



The purpose of the study is to find the relationship between students’ mastery of Indonesian passive voice and passive voice in English version of the second Grade students at MTs Hidayatul Insan Palangka Raya. The writer was interested to conduct the research because Indonesian passive voice is important thing must be learned and comprehended before comprehend about passive voice in English version.
The problem of the study is what is the relationship between the second grade of MTs Hidayatul Insan Palangka Raya students’ mastery of Indonesian passive voice and their English passive voice version? The objective of the study is to investigate the relationship between the second grade of MTs Hidayatul Insan Palangka Raya students’ mastery of Indonesian passive voice and their English passive voice version. The research has been conducted at MTs Hidayatul Insan Palangka Raya.
The result of the study shows that there is positive correlation between the mastery of Indonesian and English passive voice. The correlation is high correlation. The value of correlation coefficient (rxy) is 0,770. Therefore, alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was ignored. The degrees of freedom (df) was found 0,304 < 0,770 > 0,393. So, it means that there is high correlation between the mastery of Indonesian passive voice and English passive voice. The correlation was positive. Based on the calculation of tvalue was 0,757 and ttable was 2,021 so it means tvalue < ttable therefore, null hypothesis was accepted and the alternative hypothesis was ignored.
The conclusion shows that between the mastery of Indonesian passive voice and English passive voice has a significant relationship. Therefore, if the students understand about Indonesian passive voice, they will be easy to understand about passive voice in English version. And actually, it is influenced by positive transfer of learning. Learning Indonesian passive voice has given positive transfer of learning in learning English passive voice of the second grade at MTs Hidayatul Insan Palangka Raya. So, in this research is found that there is a positive relationship between the students’ mastery of Indonesian passive voice and their English passive voice version.
