CORRELATION BETWEEN ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT OF INDONESIAN DIRECT -INDIRECT SPEECH AND THEIR ACHIEVEMENT OF ENGLISH DIRECT - INDIRECT SPEECH AT MA HIDAYATUL INSAN PALANGKA RAYA



The purpose of the research is to find out the correlation between the students’ achievement in Indonesian direct – indirect speech and their achievement in English direct – indirect speech at the eleventh grade of MA Hidayatul Insan Palangka Raya. The population of this research is all of students at eleventh grade that consist of 35 students and using total sample. The approach of the study uses the quantitative approach and correlation method. This research had two variables that were variable X as the students’ achievement of Indonesian Direct – Indirect Speech dan variable Y as the students’ achievement of English Direct – Indirect Speech. The collection the data used test and to analyze the data by using product moment formula.
The research results indicate that there is positive correlation between the students’ achievement in Indonesian direct – indirect speech and their achievement in English direct – indirect speech. The value rxy 0.827. So, Ha was received and Ho was refused. Based on df was found” 0.334 < 0.827 > 0,442. So, it meant, there is high correlation. Because there is significant correlation between two variables. So, theory in language transfer can be accepted in this research.
