THE USE OF LANGUAGE LABORATORY IN TEACHING ENGLISH AT THE SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF MTsN 2 PALANGKA RAYA IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2012/2013



This study chooses The Seventh Grade Students of MTsN 2 Palangka Raya as subject of the study. MTsN 2 Palangka Raya is an Islamic junior high school in Palangka Raya City. It is chosen because it is the most favourite Islamic school in Palangka Raya and a proper place to conduct a research of teaching English by using language laboratory.
The principle purpose of the study was to identify, know and describe the use of language laboratory in teaching English at the seventh grade students of MTsN 2 palangka raya, teaching learning process of English study in language laboratory of MTsN 2 Palangka Raya and the problems on it clearly.
The approach of this study was qualitative and the method was descriptive. In collecting the data, the writer used three techniques; they were observation, interview and documentation. In analyzing the data, the writer used three techniques namely data reduction, data display and conclusion.
The result of the study, as follows:
1.The use of language laboratory in teaching English at the seventh grade students of MTsN 2 palangka raya was good because it had been supported by some drills that could help the teachers and the students to hold and support the process well.
2.The writer found fifth teacher problems: lack of literature and material preparation, less of lab condition preparation, crowded class, boring class and students’ attention.
3.The writer found forth students’ problems: less practices and memorizes the vocabulary, lack of vocabulary, boring class, crowded class.
