TEACHING LISTENING SKILL THROUGH WATCHING ENGLISH MOVIE AT THEEIGHT YEAR STUDENTS OF MTSN 2 PALANGKA RAYA



The principle purposes of the study were; (1) to describe the process of teaching listening skill through English movie, (2) to describe the problems of teaching listening skill throughEnglish movie, and (3) to describe the solutions done by the teacher to solve the problems.
It was used qualitative approach with descriptive qualitative method. In collecting thedata, it was used some techniques, namely: (1) Observation, (2) Interview, (3) field notes and (4) Documentation. In analyzing the data, it way used some techniques, namely: (1) Data collection, (2) Data reduction, (3) Data Display, and (4) Conclusion / Data Verification. The subjects of the study were an English teacher and ten students that consisted of students who got successful score and unsuccessful score. To take the subjects, the writer used purposive sampling.
The results of the study are, as follows:
1.The process of teaching listening skill through watching English moviedid by the teacher was three activities, such as pre-listening activities, while-listening activities, and post-listening activities.
2.The problems of teaching listening skill through watching English movie came from four sources; they were the message, the speaker, the listener, and physical setting.
3.There were some solutions through by the teacher to solve the problems came from four sources, they were the message: brainstorming of movie,guiding question, gave of key word from the movie. Speaker; repeat played of the movie and teacher reading the material orally. Listener; allowing students to use dictionary. Physical Setting; Quit condition
