EFFECT OF USING ANIMATED FILM ON WRITING NARRATIVE TEXT TOWARD THE WRITING’S SCORE OF THE TWELFTH GRADE STUDENTD IN SMA NEGERI 1 KUMAI
This study is aimed to measuring the effect of using animated film on writing narrative text toward the students writing’s score of the twelfth grade students in SMA Negeri 1 Kumai. In this study, the researcher used quasi-experimental design, where the researcher used nonrandomized control group pre-test, post-test design with a kind of treatment. In this study, the writer was helped by the English teacher of SMA Negeri 1 Kumai as the second tester for pre-test and post-test. There were two groups in this study, control group (XII Science-C) which consists of 30 students and experiment group (XII Science-B) which consist of 30 students. In this experiment, the researcher taught the students directly with the same material. Therefore, the use of animated film media was applied on experiment group only, and for the control group the researcher applied Visual media (picture series). To examine the hypothesis, the researcher used t-test formula. In addition, the researcher used SPSS 18.0 program to compare the data.
The result of t test using manual calculation showed that the calculated value (tobserved) was greater than ttable at 5% and 1% significance level or 2.021< 3.738 > 2.704. The result of t-test using SPSS 18.0 calculation indicated that the calculated value (tobserved) was also greater than ttable at 5% and 1% significance level or 2.021 < 3.734 > 2.704. This indicated that the alternative hypothesis stating that there is significant effect of using animated film media on writing narrative text toward the students writing’s score of the twelfth grade students in SMA Negeri 1 Kumai have better achievement in writing narrative text than those taught without using animated film media was accepted and the null hypothesis stating that there is no significant effect of using animated film media on writing narrative text toward the students writing’s score of twelfth grade students in SMA Negeri 1 Kumai was rejected. Therefore, teaching writing narrative text using animated film media at the twelfth grade students in SMA Negeri 1 Kumai was effective at 5% and 1% significance level.
