USING SLIDE AS A MEDIA IN TEACHING VOCABULARY AT THE FOURTH-GRADE STUDENTS OF SDIT-AL FURQAN PALANGKA RAYA
The purpose of this study was to describe the process, the problems and the way teacher solves faced by teacher in teaching Vocabulary using Slide as a media at the fourth grade students of SDIT Al Furqan Palangka Raya. The problems of the study were: (1) How is the process Slide as a media in teaching vocabulary, (2) What are the problems faced by teacher in using Slide as a media in teaching vocabulary, (3) How is the solution to solve the problem.
The writer used qualitative approach with descriptive qualitative method. In collecting the data, the writer used some techniques, namely: (1) Observation, (2) Interview, and (3) Documentation. In analyzing the data, the writer used some techniques, namely: (1) Data collection, (2) Data reduction, (3) Data display, and (4) Conclusion / Verification. The subject of this study was English Teacher that chosen by purposive sampling.
The main research findings were:
1.The process of using Slide as a media in teaching learning Vocabulary were tree-activities, such as pre activities, while- activities and post- activities,
a. In Pre activities, there were several activities that were done included: greeting the students, checking the presence list, brainstorming, preparing laptop,proyector to show slides, introducing the material, preparing the medium, setting up classroom activities, and guiding the questions.
b.In While Activities, there were some activities included: giving the material, and helping students.
c. In Post activities, the activities were: correcting the answers together, concluding the material together, suggesting and motivating students, and greeting students.
2. The problems faced by teacher in using slide as a media in teaching Vocabulary were: The problem is crowded children, because at the time each image appears they often talk while describing the existing image on the slide, making slide that makes me trouble of having to find material from books or from the internet after that teacher should edit it again, often during the learning process takes place using the Slide to teach vocabulary. Sudden power failure, and it makes the learning material is not finished.
3. The solution to solve the problems they were: Using microphone with a sound system so that all children hear my voice, and teacher reads vocabulary pronunciations correct, the school has privide DVD that contains the vocabulary and the form of Slide, the teacher still continued teaching vocabulary but just read on the her laptop whitout showing Slides.
