THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE STUDENT TEAMS ACHIEVEMENT DIVISION (STAD) METHOD IN THE TEACHING OF SPEAKING AT THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF MAN MALIKU OF PULANG PISAU REGENCY



The principle purpose of the study are to identify some problems follows: How does the teacher implement Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) method in teaching speaking, what are teacher’s problems in implementing STAD method in teaching speaking, how does the teacher solve the problems in implementing STAD method. Because of that, the purpose of this study are (a) to describe the teacher in implementing STAD method in teaching speaking; To describe the teacher’s problems in implementing STAD method in teaching speaking.
The research is a qualitative research designed. The data were collected by 1) observation, 2) documentation, 3) interview. The data were analysed using inductive method. Subject of the research is an English teacher of MAN Maliku Pulang Pisau Regency.
The main research finding were:
1. The implementation STAD method in teaching speaking of Pulang Pisau
regency as follow:
pre-taehing - teacher introduce STAD method.
- teacher divided students in some group.
- teacher divided paper sheet.
whilst teaching - teacher explain general material by using media
projectoor.
- teacher assigned to the students discuss the material.
- group presentation
Post teaching - teacher gave additional explanation.
- the teacher collected the students’ works.
2. There are three problems faced by teacher in implementing STAD method
namely: The classroom become crowded,time management, always rely on
friends who are smarter.
3.There are some solution of that problem. Namely: controled the group one of
factor group assessment,the teacher manage the time professional by limited the
time, the teacher assessment all students get truns at the presentation, or other
activity.
The result shown that generally the STAD method of cooperative learning had been done well. The following research is suggested to make research about the STAD method on other Islamic senior High School.
