THE IMPLEMENTATION OF USING ENGLISH MAGAZINE MEDIA IN TEACHING VOCABULARY AT THE TENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF MA MUSLIMAT NU OF PALANGKA RAYA



The purpose of this study was to describe the implementation and the problems faced by teacher and students in teaching Vocabulary using English magazine media at the tenth grade students of MA muslimat NU of Palangka Raya.
The problems of the study were: (1) How is the process of teaching English using English magazine media at the tenth grade students of MA Muslimat NU of Palangka Raya, (2) What are the teachers’ problems of using English magazine media at the tenth grade students of MA Muslimat NU of Palangka Raya, and (3) How are the solutions used by the teacher to solve the problems.
The writer used qualitative approach with descriptive qualitative method. In collecting the data, the writer used some techniques, namely: (1) Observation, (2) Interview, and (3) Documentation. In analyzing the data, the writer used some technioques, namely: (1) Data collection, (2) Data reduction, (3) Data display, and (4) Conclution / Verification. The subject of this study was English Teacher that chosen by purposive sampling.
The main research findings were:
1. The process of using English Magazine Media in teaching learning Vocabulary did the teacher was tree-activities, such as pre-vocabulary activities, while-vocabulary activities and post- vocabulary activities.
In the learning vocabulary process of using English Magazine Media at the tenth grade students of MA Muslimat NU of Palangka Raya. The writer devided into Pre-vocabulary activities, Whilst-vocabulary activity, and Post-vocabulary activity.
a. In Pre-vocabulary activities, there were several activities that were done included: greeting the students, cheeking the presence list, brainstorming, introducing the material, preparing the medium, setting up classroom activities, and guiding the questions.
b. In While-vocabulary Activities, there were some activities included: giving the material, and helping students.
c. In Post-vocabulary activities, the activities were: correcting the answers together, concluding the material together, sugesting and motivating students, and greeting students.
2. The problems faced by teacher of using English magazine in teaching Vocabulary process were: (1) The problem came from difficulties magazine vocabulary, (2) The lack of vocabulary, and (3) English schedule.
3.The solutions used by the teacher to solve the problems were: (1) Guiding students, and (2) Allowing students to use dictionary.
