A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON USING PICTURE CARD MEDIA THE STUDENTS VOCABULARY MASTERY AT THE FIFTH GRADEBETWEEN SDN -2 CEMPAKA MULIA TIMUR ANDSDN -4 CEMPAKA MULIA BARAT OF SAMPIT



The study was aimed at investigating weather there was a significant differences or not about of using picture card to improve the students vocabulary mastery at the fifth grade between of SDN-2 of Cempaka Mulia Timur and SDN-4 of Cempaka Mulia Barat. The study belongs to quase experiment research and the quantitative approach was used in the study. The population of the study were the students of SDN-2 of Cempaka Mulia Timur and SDN-4 of Cempaka Mulia Barat. There were 38 students as subject of the study. In the sense, the students were divided into two groups. One of group belonged to the students who were SDN-2 of Cempaka Mulia Timur, the number of the students was 18 and other group of SDN-4 of Cempaka Mulia Barat and the number of the students was 20.
The data were taken from test.techniques after collecting the data, the data were analyzed by applying ttest formula. The calculated value of ttest was then compared with the ttable. The result of the study showed that the mean score for the fifth grade students of SDN-2 of Cempaka Mulia Timur was 84.694 and the mean score for the students SDN-4 of Cempaka Mulia Barat was 76.7. Based on the result of calculation of ttest , it can be stated that there was a significant different the students vocabulary mastery in using picture card at the fifth year students of SDN-2 of Cempaka Mulia Timur and of SDN-4 of Cempaka Mulia Barat.
It can be seen from the result of the study which showed that the calculated’t’ was 2.260 and ‘t’ table with degrees of freedom N-1 ( 18-1 ) and ( 20-1 ) at the significant level of 5 % was 2.021 and at the significant level of 1 % was 2.704. Therefore because the calculated’t’test was bigger than ‘t’table, it can be stated that Ha stating that there was a significant difference vocabulary mastery of using picture card media between the fifth grade students of SDN-2 of Cempaka Mulia Timur and SDN-4 of Cempaka Mulia Barat was accepted at 5% significance level and it is rejected at 1%. and Ho stating that there was no significant difference vocabulary mastery of using picture card media between the fifth grade students of SDN-2 of Cempaka Mulia Timur and of SDN-4 of Cempaka Mulia Barat was rejected at 5% significance level and it is accepted 1% significant level.
