The main purpose of this research is to answer the problem of the study as follow: Is there any significant effect of Mind Mapping strategy toward vocabulary scores of second years students of Islamic Junior High school Darul Amin Palangkaraya? Because of that this research is aimed to find out the effectiveness of using Mind Mapping as a strategy in developing students’ vocabulary in Islamic Junior High School Darul Amin Palangkaraya. It includes the procedures of using Mind Map in teaching vocabulary.
The design of this research was quasi experimental research. The population was the second grade of students of Islamic Junior High School Darul Amin palangkaraya. Sample of this research was the students of class VIII-A and VIII-B of Islamic Junior High School Darul Amin Palangkaraya. The data collection was done by giving a test and t-test is used to analysis the difference between the students’ vocabulary scores in the post-test with Mind Mapping strategy and without Mind Mapping strategy.
Based on the analysis, the writer found that to >tt= 23.54 > 2.03 in significance level 5% and to >tt= 23.54 > 2.72 in significance level 1%. It means there was obvious difference between the average score from the result of teaching vocabulary in experiment class and controlled class. It can be inferred that teaching vocabulary using Mind Map is more effective than teaching vocabulary without using Mind Mapping.
